Honda to Exit South Korea Car Market by 2026
(MENAFN) According to reports, Japanese automaker Honda Motor has announced it will end its automobile sales operations in South Korea by the close of 2026, while maintaining its motorcycle business and after-sales services in the country.
The company said it will gradually wind down its car sales activities through its Seoul-based subsidiary, Honda Korea, as part of a broader adjustment to evolving conditions in both the global automotive industry and the South Korean market.
Honda explained that the decision comes after a strategic review intended to refocus resources and improve its competitiveness over the medium to long term.
Despite the withdrawal from car sales, the company confirmed it will continue supporting existing customers, including maintenance services, spare parts supply, and warranty coverage.
At the same time, Honda said its motorcycle division will remain central to its operations in South Korea and will be further developed through expanded product lines and improved customer services.
The company has been active in South Korea’s motorcycle market since 2002 and entered the automobile sector in 2004.
