Media Credibility, Transformation Discussed at Delphi Forum Panel

(MENAFN) A discussion on trust, accuracy, and the evolving media environment took place on Wednesday during the Delphi Economic Forum in Delphi, Greece, bringing together senior figures from several national news agencies.

The panel, titled “Trust and accuracy in a rapidly changing media landscape,” was moderated by Aria Agatsa, head of the board at the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), and included representatives from Anadolu Agency, Romania’s AGERPRES, and Cyprus News Agency (KYPE).

During the session, Yusuf Ozhan, deputy director general and editor-in-chief of Anadolu, highlighted the fast pace of global news production and the challenges journalists face in distinguishing accurate reporting from misinformation. He noted that reporters are often exposed to a large volume of information daily, including false or misleading content.

Ozhan emphasized that Anadolu journalists aim to report events as they are, without altering their core meaning, and stressed the importance of maintaining accuracy even in fast-moving environments. He also pointed to the role of verification systems in checking information sourced from citizens and social media before publication.

He further stated that in conflict zones, journalists must prioritize factual reporting despite differing narratives, underscoring the importance of careful verification over speed when necessary.

Claudia-Victoria Nicolae of AGERPRES focused on the need for state news agencies to adapt to technological changes and engage younger audiences more effectively. She also noted that journalism is a human-driven field where mistakes can occur, adding that acknowledging errors openly helps build public trust.
