Trump Hints at Soon US-Iran Talks Amid Ongoing Pakistan Mediation
(MENAFN) Donald Trump has suggested that a second round of US-Iran negotiations could take place within 36 to 72 hours, as Pakistan continues to play a mediating role between the two sides, according to reports.
Trump confirmed the possibility in remarks to a news agency, while Pakistani sources indicated that the timeframe is based on ongoing diplomatic engagement efforts between Islamabad and Tehran. Iranian officials have not yet confirmed any upcoming talks.
The report also said US negotiators believe Iran may need several additional days under the current ceasefire to consolidate internal positions before presenting a unified proposal. However, officials cautioned that any extension would not remain open-ended.
Earlier reporting indicated that Washington is considering allowing a short extension of the ceasefire period to give Iran’s leadership time to align internally, amid concerns over divided decision-making structures in Tehran.
According to reports, Trump has also delayed previous ceasefire deadlines multiple times and is currently holding off on further steps while awaiting a more unified Iranian position.
