Spain Flags Potential Jet Fuel Strain This Summer Amid Iran Tensions

(MENAFN) Spain’s key refining companies have indicated that aviation fuel availability is assured through May, though they caution that supply pressures could emerge later in the summer if tensions involving Iran persist, according to reports.

Industry sources noted that efforts are also being made to ensure adequate fuel volumes for June as demand begins to rise.

Major energy firms such as Repsol, Moeve, and BP are boosting output to prepare for increased consumption ahead of the peak travel period.

This development comes as Spain anticipates an exceptionally strong tourism year, with expectations of surpassing 100 million international arrivals. Any disruption in jet fuel availability could affect airline capacity during the busiest travel months.

Figures from the International Energy Agency indicate that Europe currently has aviation fuel reserves sufficient for roughly six weeks.
