Lebanon, Russia Seal Visa-Free Deal for Diplomatic Passport Holders
(MENAFN) Lebanon and Russia formalized a bilateral agreement on Wednesday waiving visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and special passports, Lebanon's National News Agency reported, in a move that signals a strengthening of ties between Beirut and Moscow.
The accord was signed at Lebanon's Foreign Ministry headquarters in Beirut, where Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Rudakov and Abdel Sattar Issa, secretary-general of Lebanon's Foreign Ministry, affixed their signatures to the document.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, both delegations held discussions covering the broader state of bilateral relations and matters of shared concern.
Under the terms of the agreement, the deal will take effect 60 days after both nations exchange ratification notifications through their respective competent authorities. The pact carries an initial validity of five years and is set to renew automatically — unless either country opts to temporarily suspend it citing internal circumstances.
The signing represents one of the latest diplomatic engagements between Beirut and Moscow at a time when Lebanon continues to navigate complex regional and international relationships.
