Deadly Ukrainian Drone Strike Reported in Russia

(MENAFN) According to reports, two people were killed in southeastern Russia following an overnight drone attack attributed to Ukraine, emergency officials said on Wednesday.

Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry reported that rescue teams recovered the bodies from the rubble after a residential structure collapsed in the city of Syzran, located in the Samara region.

In a separate statement shared on the Russian social media platform Max, Samara regional governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said emergency crews were continuing search and rescue operations at the site of the strike. He added that four people, including a child, were pulled alive from the debris.

The attack reportedly caused significant structural damage, leading to the collapse of the house where the fatalities occurred.

Ukraine’s General Staff later confirmed that it had conducted a large-scale drone operation targeting Russian territory, without providing additional operational details.

The incident comes amid ongoing cross-border strikes between the two countries, with both sides regularly reporting drone attacks and military activity beyond the frontline areas.
