Israel Says Dozens of Nationals Briefly Held at Moscow Airport During Screening
(MENAFN) According to reports, the Israeli Foreign Ministry has confirmed that around 40 Israeli nationals were temporarily detained during passport control at Domodedovo Airport.
The group was held for approximately five hours by Russian authorities while undergoing questioning. Reports indicate that the passengers included families with children as well as individuals holding dual citizenship.
During the screening process, officials reportedly inspected mobile phones and asked questions connected to the ongoing Iran-Israel tensions.
As stated by reports, some passengers were told that Iran is considered an ally of Russia and that those viewed as adversaries of Iran are also regarded as “enemies of Russia.” They were further informed that their presence in Moscow was “not desired,” according to the same accounts.
Following the incident, Israel’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the detentions and also issued a travel warning advising Israeli citizens against visiting Russia.
