My research examines sexual freedom within women's consent, using the renowned ancient text 'The Kamasutra'. I aim to highlight women's voices as a vital means of addressing gender inequality in today's patriarchal societies in India and Britain. Through my doctoral work, I have found that sexual coercion is a challenge not only in Asian countries but also in Western cultures, where sexual dominance over women is a significant means of control. As a PhD researcher and graphic artist, I reinterpret 'The Kamasutra' visually to empower women's sexual autonomy and introduce 'Kamasutra Feminism,' centred on 'consensual sexual pleasure.' I develop graphics and evaluate them through participatory action research with contemporary women. This process has shown me that modern women are aware of the feminist insights about female pleasure embedded in the text, but often suppress their sexual autonomy due to cultural pressures. As an Indian researcher based in the UK, I seek to promote Kamasutra Feminism as a new perspective on consensual pleasure and to challenge sexual coercion against women across different contexts. Currently, I am developing a new interpretation of Kamasutra Feminism through creative research methods.
