NEPA Chief Leaves For Kazakhstan For Regional Ecology Summit

Haq Khalis on Tuesday led a delegation to Kazakhstan to attend a regional ecological summit.

NEPA said on its Facebook page that Khalis departed for Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, on Tuesday morning to participate in the event.

It added that the summit will begin on Wednesday and continue for three days, bringing together representatives from regional countries, UN agencies, international organisations and environmental experts.

NEPA described the summit as an important international platform for strengthening regional cooperation on climate change, environmental protection and sustainable natural resource management.

Discussions will focus on joint responses to climate change, effective water and land management, forest and ecosystem protection, pollution reduction and the promotion of green economic transitions.

The authority said the participation aims to exchange experiences with regional and international partners, expand cooperation to reduce climate risks and highlight Afghanistan's environmental needs and priorities.

Khalis is expected to attend both plenary and technical sessions and hold separate meetings with several international representatives to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

NEPA added that the summit represents an important step toward enhancing regional coordination on climate change and could help pave the way for joint action and sustainable solutions across the region.
