Netanyahu Court Hearing Gets Delayed Amid Security Concerns
(MENAFN) According to reports, a scheduled court hearing in the criminal trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was postponed on Monday due to what was described as “security-diplomatic reasons,” delaying his expected return to the witness stand.
As stated by reports, an Israeli court decided on Sunday to proceed instead with another defense witness, meaning Netanyahu is unlikely to testify again before next week.
The decision followed a request from the defense team to cancel his appearance, citing unspecified “security-diplomatic reasons” contained in sealed documents submitted to both the court and prosecutors.
Reports indicate that prosecutors opposed the postponement, arguing that the prime minister should adjust his schedule to fit court proceedings unless there are urgent and unavoidable security needs. They also stressed the public interest in advancing the trial, particularly the completion of cross-examination.
According to reports, the case is currently in the cross-examination phase of Netanyahu’s testimony. He first took the stand in December 2024, while prosecutors began questioning him in June 2025 after dozens of defense-led sessions.
As stated by reports, the proceedings have largely focused on what is known as Case 4000, which involves allegations that regulatory benefits were exchanged for favorable media coverage—claims Netanyahu has denied.
