Ukraine Says It Targeted Drone Facility in Russia
(MENAFN) Ukraine announced Sunday it had launched an overnight strike on the Atlant Aero defense-industrial complex in the Russian city of Taganrog, triggering a blaze at the facility and dealing what Kyiv described as a significant blow to Moscow's drone manufacturing capabilities.
The Ukrainian General Staff stated the operation was aimed at degrading Russia's capacity to produce unmanned aerial vehicles and curbing its ability to carry out attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
According to Ukrainian authorities, Atlant Aero is responsible for the design, manufacture, and testing of Molniya-type strike and reconnaissance drones, as well as key components for the Orion UAV system.
Beyond Taganrog, Ukrainian forces reportedly targeted multiple high-value sites across Russian-occupied territories, including logistics depots in Manhush, Topolyne, and Mariupol in occupied Donetsk, as well as Smile in occupied Zaporizhzhia. Fuel storage facilities near Novopoltavka and an ammunition depot near Trudove, Zaporizhzhia, were also listed among the strikes.
Yury Slyusar, governor of Russia's Rostov region, confirmed casualties and structural damage via Telegram, reporting three people had been wounded in the overnight assault.
"A missile strike on Taganrog damaged commercial infrastructure. A fire broke out at warehouse facilities," he said.
