Venezuela, EU Renew Push for Deeper Cooperation

(MENAFN) Venezuela’s top diplomat met with European Union representatives on Wednesday in a renewed push to deepen bilateral cooperation, as both sides explore closer engagement.

Foreign Minister Yvan Gil held discussions with Pelayo Castro Zuzuarregui, a senior official at the European External Action Service, and Maria Antonia Calvo Puerta, the EU’s Charge d’Affaires in Caracas, according to official information.

During the meeting, both parties reviewed proposals aimed at advancing ties between Venezuela and Europe. Gil said the discussions focused on initiatives "to strengthen cooperation between Europe and our nation, always within a framework of respect, dialogue, and mutual benefit for our peoples."

Gil also posted updates and images from the talks on his Telegram channel, highlighting the diplomatic engagement.

The meeting follows a broader thaw in relations that began in January, when Venezuela and European counterparts agreed on the need to move toward renewed dialogue and cooperation.

Wednesday’s talks come as Caracas intensifies diplomatic outreach efforts, seeking to expand dialogue with international partners and across multiple sectors.
