Russian Strike Leaves Fifteen Dead in Ukraine
(MENAFN) Russia launched a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine between Wednesday and Thursday, deploying missiles and drones that left at least 15 people dead and dozens injured, according to Ukrainian authorities.
In the capital, Kyiv, four people were killed and 54 others wounded, including police personnel, medical staff, and two foreign nationals, the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office reported.
The attacks caused extensive destruction across the city, damaging 17 apartment blocks, 10 private homes, as well as a hotel, office complex, car dealership, petrol station, and shopping mall.
In the southern city of Odesa, repeated waves of strikes resulted in eight fatalities and 16 injuries, said Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa City Military Administration. The bombardment damaged multiple structures and shattered more than 300 windows.
Meanwhile, in the central Dnipropetrovsk region, authorities confirmed three deaths and 34 injuries following additional strikes.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 659 combat drones and 44 missiles over the past 24 hours. Air defense systems intercepted 636 drones and 31 missiles, limiting further casualties and destruction.
