Iran Calls for Compensation from Arab States Over Alleged Strike Support
(MENAFN) Iran has called for compensation from five Arab countries, accusing them of involvement in US-Israeli strikes against Iranian territory during the recent escalation.
In a letter sent on Monday to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the President of the UN Security Council Jamal Fares Alrowaiei, Iran’s UN envoy Amir Saeid Iravani said Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan had “breached their international obligations” by allegedly supporting or enabling the attacks.
He argued that these countries should be held accountable and required to pay compensation for losses sustained during the conflict.
The accusations come after a sharp escalation in regional hostilities following joint US and Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, which reportedly caused significant casualties and damage.
Iran responded with retaliatory strikes targeting Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf states hosting US military installations before a temporary two-week ceasefire was announced last week.
Separately, Iranian and US delegations held lengthy talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, lasting around 21 hours, but the discussions ended without a final agreement.
