Iran Accuses Five Arab Nations of Complicity in U.S.-Israeli Strikes

(MENAFN) Iran has formally called on five Arab states — Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan — to pay war reparations, alleging their direct complicity in recent US-Israeli military strikes on Iranian soil.

In a strongly worded letter delivered Monday to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and UN Security Council President Jamal Fares Alrowaiei, Iran's UN Envoy Amir Saeid Iravani accused the five nations of violating their international legal obligations by allegedly facilitating the US-Israeli offensive against Tehran.

The envoy stated those governments "breached their international obligations" and insisted they must be held accountable for damages sustained throughout the conflict.

So, they should be held responsible and pay compensation for the losses suffered during the war, he said.

The crisis ignited on Feb. 28, when US and Israeli forces launched coordinated strikes against Iran, resulting in thousands of casualties. Tehran responded with retaliatory attacks targeting Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf states housing US military installations, before both sides agreed to a two-week ceasefire announced last week.

Diplomatic efforts have so far failed to yield a breakthrough — Iranian and US negotiating teams wrapped up an intensive 21-hour round of talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, early Sunday without securing any agreement.
