Heidi Mcilvenny

Heidi McIlvenny is an interdisciplinary PhD researcher at Queen's University Belfast, investigating the relationship between people and coastal habitats. Her research spans seagrass ecology, blue carbon, and cultural ecosystem services through exploring how coastal communities value and connect with marine environments.
She is a Director of the Irish Ocean Literacy Network (IOLN) and sits on advisory committees for the RSPB and National Trust in Northern Ireland, advising on marine conservation and biodiversity policy. Her work bridges science, society, and evidence-based decision-making.
