Ukraine Expands Security Cooperation Plans Across Europe

(MENAFN) Ukraine is laying the groundwork for more extensive security partnerships across Europe, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Speaking on Monday during a session reviewing the initial phase of collaboration with partners in the Middle East and Gulf region, he emphasized ongoing diplomatic and strategic efforts.

In remarks shared via the US-based social media platform X after meeting with Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, Zelenskyy underscored Kyiv’s willingness to offer “prompt and effective support to those who support our state and independence.” His comments highlighted Ukraine’s intention to strengthen mutual defense cooperation with allied nations.

“This applies to protection against attack drones and other UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) types in the air, as well as to addressing maritime security tasks -- Ukraine’s experience in the Black Sea can also be put to use on other globally important maritime routes,” he said, pointing to the country’s operational expertise in both aerial defense and naval security.

Zelenskyy also noted that Ukraine is actively engaging in security discussions with multiple nations in the Middle East and Gulf region, including Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Syria, while also receiving interest from Iraq for further cooperation.

Additionally, he mentioned that discussions extended to potential joint initiatives with countries in the Caucasus region, as well as East and Southeast Asia. Interest has also emerged from several African nations seeking meaningful collaboration, signaling a broader international dimension to Ukraine’s security outreach.
