Turkey Stresses Diplomacy to Safeguard Strait of Hormuz

(MENAFN) Türkiye has cautioned against relying on military strategies to address growing tensions around vital global maritime corridors, stressing instead that diplomacy remains the only practical path forward to protect international trade routes.

The Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, highlighted that any attempt to secure strategic sea lanes through military means would be extremely complicated. He called for sustained diplomatic efforts to guarantee the continued flow of global shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy passages.

Speaking during an interview program in Ankara hosted by media outlets, he presented Türkiye’s perspectives on various ongoing regional points of conflict.

Fidan underlined how essential it is to keep global maritime routes functioning without disruption at a time of escalating Gulf tensions. “What the entire world wants is that international transit remains free and uninterrupted,” he said.

He further stressed that lasting stability in the region’s waterways cannot be achieved through coercive or military intervention. “Our position is to reopen it through peace. There are many difficulties in intervening here with an international armed peace force,” he said.
