Syrian Leader Marks Easter with Message of Unity, Peace for Christians

(MENAFN) Ahmad al-Sharaa has reportedly extended Easter greetings to Syria’s Christian population, expressing hopes that the occasion will bring peace, mercy, and renewed prosperity to the country.

In a message shared on the social media platform X, he offered what he described as sincere congratulations and best wishes to members of Syria’s Christian communities, according to reports.

He added that he hopes Easter would “carry the meanings of peace and mercy” and return to Syria “with prosperity and growth,” emphasizing themes of national recovery and social harmony.

The Syrian government has repeatedly stated that it aims to safeguard the dignity and rights of citizens from all religious and ethnic backgrounds, while also stressing fair representation across different communities.

Easter celebrations in Syria this year are observed on two different dates, with Western Christian traditions marking April 5 and Eastern Orthodox communities observing April 12, reflecting the country’s religious diversity and overlapping calendars.
