US VP Extends Stay in Islamabad as US-Iran Talks Continue

(MENAFN) According to reports, US Vice President JD Vance extended his stay in Islamabad after being asked to do so by Pakistani officials, as ongoing US–Iran negotiations entered a second consecutive day.

Sources said Vance had originally been expected to depart early Sunday, but adjusted his schedule after Pakistan requested continued “high-level presence” during the talks in order to support efforts toward a “potential agreement.”

Reports indicate that the discussions are being led by the US delegation as part of wider diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing tensions in the region. Pakistani mediators are said to have proposed an additional round of talks, which Iran and the United States reportedly agreed to continue later on Sunday.

According to reports, the upcoming session is expected to be part of broader trilateral engagement involving Iran, the United States, and Pakistan, as negotiations continue toward a possible framework intended to reduce hostilities.

Earlier rounds reportedly included meetings with senior figures from all sides, after which indirect exchanges took place, including the sharing of written proposals between delegations.

Sources also indicated that further discussions were expected to resume after sunrise, while officials and media teams continued to wait for updates from inside the negotiation venue.
