Health Ministry Reports Rise in Death Toll from Israeli Attacks on Lebanon

(MENAFN) The health authorities in Lebanon have reported a sharp increase in casualties resulting from ongoing Israeli attacks that began on March 2, according to official statements.

According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, the total number of people killed since the start of the escalation has reached 2,020, while 6,436 others have been injured. In its most recent update, the ministry stated that 97 people were killed and 133 injured within the past 24 hours alone.

The figures provided also break down demographic impacts, reporting that 165 children have been killed and 641 injured, while 248 women have been killed and 1,107 injured since the beginning of the escalation.

These figures come amid continued regional instability and parallel diplomatic developments.

Lebanese authorities recently confirmed that an initial meeting between Lebanon and Israel is scheduled to take place on April 14 in Washington, D.C., hosted in coordination with the United States Department of State, with the aim of exploring a ceasefire arrangement and opening channels for direct talks.

At the same time, broader regional diplomacy is also unfolding. Separate discussions involving Iran and the United States are reportedly taking place in Pakistan, as part of efforts to reduce tensions following a wider conflict that began earlier this year.

Reports also indicate that recent US statements referenced a temporary ceasefire proposal and ongoing negotiations tied to broader regional stabilization efforts, though details remain subject to ongoing diplomatic developments.
