KP Assembly Expands Role Of Women, Minorities In Key Standing Committees


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) The Secretariat of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly has formally issued a notification appointing women elected on reserved seats and minority members of the assembly to various standing committees.

This decision was made after approval from the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly, with the aim of ensuring effective and active representation of women and minorities in the legislative process.

According to the notification, several women members have been assigned responsibilities in key departmental standing committees. Sitara Afridi has been included in the Revenue and Estate Committee, Aiman Jalil Jan in Higher Education, Madina Gul Afridi in Relief and Rehabilitation, while Rabia Shaheen has been appointed to the Climate Change, Forests, and Wildlife Committee.

Similarly, Nilofer Begum has been assigned to Information and Public Relations, Naheeda Noor to Energy and Power, Arifa Bibi to Communications and Works, while Faiza Malik has been given responsibilities in the Law, Parliamentary Affairs, and Human Rights Committee.

Afshan Hussain has been appointed to the Food Committee, Shazia Jadun and Jamila Paracha to Health, while Jamila Paracha has also been given representation in the Planning and Development Committee.

Furthermore, Farah Khan has been included in the Finance Committee, while Shazia Tahmas Khan, Mehr Sultana, Ashbar Jan Jadun, and Khadija Bibi have been appointed to the Establishment Committee. Farzana Shireen has been assigned to Local Government, Elections, and Rural Development, while Nadia Sher has been included in the Relief and Rehabilitation Committee.

Among minority members, Gurpal Singh has been included in the Food Committee, Suresh Kumar in Housing, and Beary Lal in the Labour Committee, while other minority representatives have also been given responsibilities in various committees.

According to the notification, these appointments have been made in continuation of previous orders, with the objective of improving the performance of standing committees and accelerating the resolution of public issues. This step is expected to promote inclusive governance in the province.
