Iraq, Pakistan Coordinate on Ceasefire Efforts in Regional Conflict

(MENAFN) Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein held discussions with his Pakistani counterpart Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday evening regarding efforts to achieve a ceasefire and end regional hostilities, according to reports from Iraq’s Foreign Ministry.

The two officials spoke by phone to review ongoing initiatives aimed at securing a ceasefire agreement. Hussein commended Pakistan’s role in helping establish understandings that could pave the way for negotiations in the coming days.

He also emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination and removing any obstacles that might hinder preparations for talks, noting that continued efforts are critical to increasing the chances of de-escalation and restoring stability in the region.

These developments occurred one day after the United States and Iran announced a ceasefire intended to create conditions for a final resolution to the conflict initiated by Washington and Tel Aviv against Tehran on February 28.

While Iranian and Pakistani officials indicated that Lebanon was included in the agreement, Israel maintained that the ceasefire did not cover the country and carried out extensive airstrikes across Lebanon on Wednesday, resulting in over 250 deaths.
