Iran Plans Deterrent Strikes on Israel Amid Lebanon Ceasefire Disputes
(MENAFN) Iran is reportedly preparing deterrent actions targeting Israeli forces in response to alleged violations of the Lebanon ceasefire, according to an unidentified Iranian military source.
"Following the continued violations of the temporary ceasefire by the Israeli regime’s army against Lebanon and the country’s Islamic resistance, Iran is finalizing plans to carry out a deterrent operation against Israeli military positions in the occupied territories," the source stated.
Tehran officials are increasingly viewing Israel’s ongoing attacks, “despite the agreement on all fronts,” as a sign that the United States “cannot control [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, or that CENTCOM has granted the Israeli regime freedom of action,” the source added.
Earlier reports indicate that Israeli warplanes conducted strikes on several areas, including Beirut, Baalbek in the east, Mount Lebanon, and the southern regions of Lebanon.
These military actions occurred shortly after the US and Iran declared a two-week truce intended to create conditions for a comprehensive settlement to end the conflict initiated by Washington and Tel Aviv against Tehran on February 28, which has resulted in thousands of casualties.
Since a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2, Israel has continued air and ground assaults in southern Lebanon, despite a ceasefire that has technically been in effect since November 2024.
