Trump Announces US Assistance for Traffic Management in Strait of Hormuz

(MENAFN) Donald Trump announced Wednesday that the United States will assist in managing traffic congestion in the Strait of Hormuz, following the establishment of a two-week ceasefire with Iran, according to reports.

On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said, "There will be lots of positive action! Big money will be made. Iran can start the reconstruction process." He added, "We’ll be loading up with supplies of all kinds, and just 'hangin’ around' in order to make sure that everything goes well."

Prior to declaring the ceasefire, Trump had given Iran a deadline of 8 pm Eastern Time (0000 GMT Wednesday) to reopen the Strait and reach an agreement, warning of potential attacks on its energy infrastructure if the terms were not met.

Trump described the situation as a potential “Golden Age of the Middle East” and indicated that the US would remain actively engaged to secure the critical maritime route.

The regional conflict has intensified since February 28, when United States and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran, resulting in over 1,400 fatalities, including the then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In response, Iran has conducted drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military forces, while also limiting the movement of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
