US Confirms Release of Kidnapped Journalist in Iraq
(MENAFN) Marco Rubio announced on Tuesday that American journalist Shelly Kittleson has been released after being kidnapped in Iraq, according to reports.
In a post on the social platform X, Rubio said, "We are relieved that this American is now free and are working to support her safe departure from Iraq."
Reports indicated that the militia group Kataib Hezbollah had earlier announced Kittleson’s release and instructed her to leave the country immediately.
Kittleson had been abducted in Baghdad on March 31, during a period of heightened regional tensions following the US and Israel offensive against Iran that began on February 28.
