Pakistan Announces Immediate US-Iran Ceasefire Across All Conflict Zones
(MENAFN) Shehbaz Sharif revealed early Wednesday that both the United States and Iran, along with their respective allies, have agreed to implement an immediate ceasefire across all areas of conflict, including Lebanon, according to reports.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Sharif said, "With the greatest humility, I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere, effective immediately."
The announcement followed earlier remarks by US President Donald Trump, who indicated he had agreed "to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks."
Sharif further stated that delegations from both Washington and Tehran have been invited to Islamabad for negotiations scheduled to begin Friday, aimed at reaching a comprehensive resolution to ongoing disputes.
Highlighting the tone of recent engagement, he said, "Both parties have displayed remarkable wisdom and understanding and have remained constructively engaged in furthering the cause of peace and stability.
"We earnestly hope, that the ‘Islamabad Talks’ succeed in achieving sustainable peace and wish to share more good news in coming days!"
