US Senator Calls for Trump’s Immediate Removal, Labels Him as Dangerous
(MENAFN) US Senator Ed Markey on Tuesday pressed for immediate steps to oust President Donald Trump, portraying him as a serious danger due to his behavior and rhetoric.
In a video shared on the social media platform X, Markey said, "I'm sure you've seen Donald Trump's unhinged post from this morning. He is completely unstable and dangerous."
His comments followed a warning issued by Trump to Iran, in which he set a deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and restoring the flow of oil and gas by 8 pm Eastern Time (0000GMT Wednesday). He cautioned that failure to comply would result in catastrophic consequences, stating that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again."
Markey argued that legislative measures alone would not be sufficient to restrain what he described as unauthorized military actions involving Iran. He emphasized the need for stronger action, declaring:
"Here's what needs to happen immediately: The House must come back into session to bring up and pass articles of impeachment against Donald Trump, then the Senate needs to remove him from office.
"A war powers resolution is not enough. Yes, we need to assert congressional authority and stop this illegal war in Iran, but Trump is clearly a war hungry madman at odds with the American people. Impeachment is the top priority. No more war criminal in the White House."
According to reports, multiple lawmakers echoed similar concerns on Tuesday, calling for Trump to be removed from office either through impeachment proceedings or by invoking the Twenty-fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution.
