Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has noted that the star 'Al Sarfah' that marks the end of Suhail season can be best observed during the months of April and May, when it becomes more visible in the night sky.

Highlighting key astronomical details about the star, the QCH shared in a social media post its cultural and seasonal significance in the region.

It said that Al Sarfah is a second-magnitude white binary star and one of the prominent stars in the Leo constellation. It is also considered the final star marking the end of the 'Suhail season', which is traditionally associated with changes in weather patterns.

The star was named 'Al Sarfah' which refers to departure, as it historically signals the gradual end of intense summer heat upon its twisting and rising on October 3 each year.

According to QCH, Al Sarfah is located approximately 35 light-years away from Earth.
