Trump Issues Warning as Iran Ceasefire Deadline Nears
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump on Tuesday issued a stark warning that “a whole civilization will die tonight,” as the final hours tick down toward his imposed deadline for securing a ceasefire deal with Iran.
“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” Trump stated on his Truth Social platform.
He further remarked, “However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end,” emphasizing the potential for a dramatic transformation despite the looming threat.
Earlier in the day, Trump cautioned that he would authorize strikes on power facilities and bridges throughout Iran if Tehran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz and finalize an agreement by Tuesday evening at 8 pm EDT (0000 GMT Wednesday).
Tensions across the region have continued to intensify since Israel and the US initiated a military campaign against Iran on Feb. 28. The offensive has resulted in the deaths of more than 1,340 individuals, including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iranian officials have not released updated casualty figures in recent days.
