The business relationship between Uzbekistan and the United States will continue to grow stronger
(MENAFNEditorial) One of Uzbekistan’s main priorities in foreign policy is building strong cooperation with international partners. Specifically, relations with the United States are particularly important in this area. Over the last five years, leaders from both countries have maintained ongoing dialogue and formed close ties through bilateral and regional projects.
Economic cooperation continues to grow, with bilateral trade surpassing $1 billion, and nearly 340 U.S. companies operating in the Uzbek market. Additionally, joint projects are being successfully carried out in energy, agriculture, transportation, information technology, and high-tech industries.
During the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the United States from November 4 to 6, 2025, as part of the “C5+1” summit, an agreement was reached, coordinated by the Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan and the American side, to establish the American-Uzbek Business and Investment Council, co-chaired by a representative of the U.S. President.
This will help develop and strengthen mutually beneficial trade, investment, and commercial relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United States, as well as improve the business environment and support entrepreneurial activities, ensuring efficient organization in this area.
A ceremony was held in Washington the other day to launch the American-Uzbek Business and Investment Council’s activities officially. The event was attended by the Council’s co-chairs – Saida Mirziyoyeva and Sergio Gor.
During the event, the Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, held discussions in Washington with U.S. Special Envoy to South and Central Asia, Ambassador Sergio Gor.
“We held a productive meeting in the U.S. capital with my colleague, co-chair of the American-Uzbek Business and Investment Council, Ambassador Sergio Gor. At the meeting, we discussed key issues of business cooperation between our countries. The meeting took place on the eve of the official launch of the Council’s activities”, wrote Ms. Saida Mirziyoyeva.
The main goal of the Council is to attract American companies and investment funds to the Uzbekistan market, as well as to establish a permanent platform for dialogue between business representatives of both countries.
The Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, and the U.S. Special Envoy to South and Central Asia, Ambassador Sergio Gor, will lead the Council’s activities.
The first meeting of the American-Uzbek Business Council took place on February 7 in Tashkent. During this session, Sergio Gor met with Saida Mirziyoyeva and, among other issues, discussed ways to strengthen commercial diplomacy between the two countries.
In conclusion, this structure will serve as an effective platform to strengthen business ties between Uzbekistan and the United States. The strong political will of the Presidents of both countries is laying a solid foundation for this.
