Israeli Raid in West Bank Leads to Women’s Fatal Heart Attack

(MENAFN) An elderly Palestinian woman suffered a fatal heart attack early Tuesday as Israeli forces conducted a raid on her home in the occupied West Bank, according to official and local sources.

Sabriya Amin Shamashna, 68, experienced a heart attack during an Israeli military operation in the town of Jiyus, east of Qalqilya, a Palestinian news agency reported, citing medical sources.

She was transported to a hospital, where her death was later confirmed, the news agency added.

Local sources told media that Israeli troops carried out a dawn operation in Jiyus, targeting multiple residences, including Shamashna’s home.

"They said troops entered an apartment and went into the bedroom where the woman and her husband were present."

"The couple was startled when soldiers entered the room, after which Shamashna suffered shock that led to cardiac arrest. The soldiers later withdrew from the home," the sources said.

Israeli and Palestinian officials have not issued immediate comments.

Israeli forces regularly conduct raids across West Bank towns and cities, often detaining Palestinians.

Since Oct. 8, 2023, Israeli operations in the West Bank—including killings, home demolitions, displacement, and settler expansion—have resulted in more than 1,147 Palestinian deaths, approximately 11,750 injuries, and nearly 22,000 arrests, according to official Palestinian figures.
