Drone Strikes Residential House Near Erbil, Killing Two

(MENAFN) At least two people die after a drone crashes into a residential home in a village west of Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, a Kurdish official reported early Tuesday.

As stated by reports, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw said the incident occurred in Zargazawi, located in the Dara Shakran subdistrict. No further information about the crash was immediately available.

The region has been experiencing heightened tensions since the US and Israel launched an offensive on Iran on February 28, reportedly killing over 1,340 people, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has conducted drone and missile strikes against Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US forces, resulting in casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
