Food Supplies In UAE Steady, Prices Remain Stable Says Minister

The UAE's food supply remains stable with no signs of shortages or unjustified price increases, Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri said following an inspection tour of Al Ain's fruit and vegetable market.

The visit comes as authorities continue to monitor markets across the country during a period of heightened regional uncertainty, as well as sustained demand following the Ramadan and Eid season, when consumption typically rises.

During the tour, the minister reviewed supply chains, stock levels, and pricing practices, confirming that daily deliveries are continuing at normal rates and that markets are operating without disruption.

“We are working to ensure stability across all markets in the country,” Bin Touq said.“We are monitoring prices, stock levels, and supply chain efficiency on a daily basis to ensure goods remain available without interruption.”

He added that there are no indicators of shortages, noting that products are readily available both in warehouses and on shelves, reflecting the strength of the UAE's logistics network and strategic reserves.

The inspection also focused on compliance with consumer protection regulations, including monitoring for unjustified price increases and ensuring fair trading practices across retail outlets.

Authorities said supply movement remains steady, with no unusual fluctuations in pricing or quantities, highlighting the flexibility of the country's food supply chains even during peak demand periods.

Officials said the continued stability in prices and availability reflects the effectiveness of stock management systems and coordinated oversight between federal and local authorities.

Bin Touq urged consumers to shop responsibly and avoid excessive purchasing, noting that balanced consumption supports price stability and ensures availability across the market.

The minister said the UAE's advanced infrastructure and logistics network have played a key role in maintaining supply continuity, with alternative supply routes and integrated stock systems allowing rapid response to changes in demand.

The Ministry of Economy and Tourism said inspection campaigns are being carried out at an intensified pace, with strict action taken against any violations affecting supply availability or consumer rights.

Since the start of the current period, more than 12,284 inspection visits have been conducted across markets nationwide, resulting in 249 violations, including unjustified price increases. Authorities also issued 905 warnings to suppliers, retailers, and sales outlets.

Officials said any practices such as price manipulation, misinformation, or exploitation of market conditions will be addressed under existing regulations, including administrative penalties and fines.

The visit forms part of a broader series of field inspections aimed at maintaining market stability, strengthening supply chain resilience, and ensuring transparent pricing across the UAE.
