UAE Gets Accused of Joining Conflict with Iran

(MENAFN) Iran’s state-run media reported on Saturday that the United Arab Emirates has become involved in the ongoing conflict with Iran.

An Iranian state broadcaster stated in a post on the US social media platform X that it possessed two documents purportedly confirming the UAE’s engagement in the hostilities.

According to the broadcaster, the destruction of a Chinese WingLoong-2 drone on April 1, described as “only in the possession of Saudi Arabia and the UAE,” along with the interception of an “Emirati Mirage 2000 fighter jet over Iran's Jask Island on March 22," serve as evidence of the UAE’s participation in the war.

These assertions could not be independently verified by a news agency, and the UAE has not yet issued any immediate response to the report.

Regional tensions have intensified since the US and Israel launched a joint strike on Iran on Feb. 28, resulting in over 1,340 fatalities, including the then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In retaliation, Tehran has carried out drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military installations.
