Fidan Consults Regional Counterparts on Mideast Developments

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held separate phone discussions on Wednesday with his counterparts from Jordan, Japan, Qatar, and Egypt to review recent developments in the Middle East, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.

Fidan spoke with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi about the Palestinian issue and ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the war in Iran. In discussions with Japan’s Toshimitsu Motegi, he addressed political and economic matters, as well as the global impact of the Iran conflict.

During calls with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Fidan assessed the situation in the Gulf and the wider region, including the Palestinian issue.

Tensions have escalated since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran on Feb. 28. Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes on Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
