Palestinian Vice President to Visit Türkiye
(MENAFN) Hussein al-Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine, is scheduled to visit Türkiye on Tuesday for official discussions, according to diplomatic reports.
During the visit, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is expected to reaffirm Türkiye’s full support for Palestine, the protection of Palestinian rights, and the pursuit of a two-state solution. Fidan is also set to stress that the Israeli government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should not be allowed to undermine regional and international efforts toward this solution through unlawful measures or annexation policies in the occupied territories.
Reports indicate that the talks will cover the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, with Fidan urging the international community to take responsibility in preventing further crises. Discussions are also expected to include the work of the Peace Council and its mechanisms, current conditions on the ground, and potential next steps.
Fidan will likely highlight Israel’s attempts to impede the council’s efforts, call for immediate recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, and demand concrete international measures to address settler violence and settlement expansion in the West Bank. The foreign minister will also address the closure of holy sites in East Jerusalem, including Al-Aqsa Mosque, condemning the Israeli administration’s stance as unacceptable, and emphasize that resolving the Palestinian issue is essential for lasting regional stability.
In addition, updates on Türkiye’s diplomatic engagements with regional partners to achieve a peaceful resolution of ongoing conflicts will be provided, alongside concerns over Israel’s escalating actions in Lebanon and continued occupation policies, which are seen as threats to regional stability.
