D-8 Secretary-General Engages in Talks at Stratcom 2026 Summit

(MENAFN) Sohail Mahmood, secretary-general of the Developing Eight (D‑8) Organization for Economic Cooperation, participated in a series of high-level meetings during the International Strategic Communication (Stratcom) Summit 2026 in Istanbul, according to reports from the organization.

The summit, organized by Türkiye’s Communications Directorate on March 27-28, saw Mahmood attend multiple panel discussions and hold talks with key officials, including Turkish Communications Director Burhanettin Duran. During their meeting, Mahmood highlighted the significance of the summit’s discussions in addressing global challenges and emphasized the potential for enhanced collaboration between the D-8 Organization and the Communications Directorate in strategic communication and public diplomacy.

Mahmood also met with Bangladesh’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Zahir Uddin Swapon, focusing on boosting media cooperation among D-8 member states. He underlined the critical role of media in increasing the organization’s visibility and outreach, both regionally and internationally.
