China Reaffirms Demand for US to End Cuba Sanctions

(MENAFN) China on Monday renewed its demand for the United States to end its longstanding blockade and sanctions against Cuba, as stated by reports.

Speaking in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said, “urges the US to immediately stop blockade, sanctions and all forms of pressure and coercion against Cuba,” emphasizing China’s opposition to Washington’s policies toward the island.

The statement followed comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump, who suggested that Cuba could become a future target amid ongoing military operations. "Cuba is going to be next," Trump said while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One during a flight to Washington, D.C.

Mao added that China “will continue to do what it can to provide assistance to Cuba,” signaling continued support for the country.

Trump’s remarks come as the U.S.-Israeli air campaign against Iran enters its second month.

Since late February, the strikes have reportedly resulted in more than 1,400 deaths, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting U.S. military facilities. The ongoing conflict has led to casualties among U.S. forces, with at least 13 servicemen killed and hundreds more injured, in addition to damage to military assets in the region.
