US-Israel Target Petrochemical Unit in Northwestern Iran
(MENAFN) A petrochemical unit in Tabriz, a city in northwestern Iran, was struck early Monday in what reports describe as a U.S.-Israeli airstrike.
The affected facility belongs to the Tabriz Petrochemical Company. Officials from the East Azerbaijan province’s crisis management department stated that the strike did not result in the release of any hazardous or toxic materials and that the situation was under control. Rescue and operational teams were promptly dispatched to the site.
The airstrike is part of an expanding U.S.-Israeli campaign against Iran, which began on Feb. 28 and has increasingly targeted economic and energy infrastructure. Earlier this month, on March 7, several oil depots in Tehran and the neighboring Alborz province were struck by missiles, causing fires.
