Pakistani, Saudi Leaders Hold Talks on Middle East Situation

(MENAFN) Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, on Sunday in Islamabad to deliberate on “evolving regional and international developments” as the Middle East conflict enters its second month.

Both diplomats emphasized "the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and collective efforts to promote peace, security and stability in the region," according to a statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry.

They reaffirmed their dedication to deepening engagement and agreed to continue collaboration at both bilateral and multilateral levels to "further strengthen cooperation and contribute to regional peace and prosperity."

Additionally, the two sides "reviewed bilateral relations and discussed joint efforts regarding regional developments," the Saudi Foreign Ministry noted on the social media platform X.

Prince Faisal was later received by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who assured that “Pakistan would always stand shoulder to shoulder with Saudi Arabia” and reiterated “Pakistan’s full and unwavering solidarity and support” for the Gulf nation.

The prince’s visit to Islamabad coincides with a quadrilateral foreign ministers’ meeting aimed at advancing mediation efforts to resolve the Middle East crisis.

The region remains on high alert following an offensive launched by Israel and the US against Iran on February 28, which has reportedly killed more than 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation, according to reports.
