Russia Seeks Closer Ties with Gulf States Amid Middle East Tensions
(MENAFN) Russia is aiming to expand its cooperation with Gulf nations amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told state media on Sunday.
Describing Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states as Moscow’s “good partners” and “good friends,” he emphasized that these are countries "we want to develop bilateral cooperation with."
"We will continue to do this; we value our relations," he added.
The escalation of conflict began on February 28, when the US and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran, reportedly killing over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In response, Iran has carried out drone and missile attacks targeting Israel as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. These strikes have resulted in casualties, damaged infrastructure, and disrupted global markets and aviation, according to reports.
