Trump Shares Letter from Evangelist Graham on Salvation Through Faith
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump on Sunday posted a personal letter from American evangelist Franklin Graham, assuring him that eternal salvation is possible through faith in Jesus Christ.
Graham, 73, wrote the letter last October after Trump had publicly expressed uncertainty about reaching heaven. In the letter, shared by Trump on his social media platform Truth Social, Graham began by congratulating the president on the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and the release of Israeli hostages, describing his leadership as "historic" and the developments as "an answer to much prayer."
The evangelist then addressed spiritual matters, stating that no amount of "good works, prominence, success" could guarantee a place in heaven, and that "the only way" was through faith in Jesus Christ. "It is an important issue to know for certain that your soul is secure and will spend eternity in the presence of God," Graham wrote.
He encouraged Trump to confess his faith and invite Jesus Christ into his heart, promising that he would be "heaven bound." The letter included a biblical reference and noted that Trump remained in Graham’s prayers.
Trump had previously remarked that he wanted to "try and get to heaven, if possible," implying that he had been told his chances were uncertain.
Graham’s letter was written during a period of relative calm following the ceasefire on Oct. 10 last year between Hamas and Israel. Reports indicate that Israeli forces have since violated that ceasefire daily, killing at least 691 people and injuring 1,876, according to Palestinian Health Ministry data.
The ongoing conflict in Gaza, which began in October 2023, has reportedly killed more than 72,000 Palestinians, wounded roughly 172,000, and destroyed approximately 90% of civilian infrastructure in the enclave.
