Russia Says It Took Control of Ukrainian Village

(MENAFN) Russia's Defense Ministry announced Sunday that its forces had seized yet another settlement in Ukraine, asserting full operational control over the village of Kovsharovka in the Kharkiv region.

The ministry's statement offered no casualty figures or timeline for the advance, but additionally claimed that Russian strikes had successfully targeted a storage facility housing Flamingo cruise missiles, as well as aviation equipment at multiple military airfields across Ukrainian territory.

Kyiv had not issued any official response to the claims at the time of reporting. Independent verification of battlefield assertions from either side remains extremely difficult given the fluid and highly restricted nature of the conflict — a war that crossed into its fifth year last month, with no ceasefire in sight.

The latest territorial claim follows a pattern of incremental advances Moscow has sought to publicize through official defense channels, as both sides continue to contest ground across Ukraine's eastern and northeastern fronts.
