Russia, Ukraine Exchange Blame for Deadly Overnight Drone Strikes
(MENAFN) Russia and Ukraine accused each other on Saturday of carrying out overnight drone attacks that resulted in five fatalities and left more than a dozen people injured.
In Russia, Yaroslavl Governor Mikhail Yevrayev reported that a Ukrainian drone strike damaged multiple residential buildings and a commercial facility. He said over 30 drones were shot down, and a minor was killed when a drone struck his home. The child’s parents were critically injured and hospitalized, and a neighbor also sustained injuries.
Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that a total of 155 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight across 16 regions, including Yaroslavl and the Crimean Peninsula, which Moscow annexed in 2014.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, Oleh Kiper, the Russian-appointed governor of the southern Odesa region, said “massive strikes” targeted civilian and critical infrastructure in the regional capital.
Two people were killed and 12 injured, including a 9-year-old boy, with damage reported to the roof of a four-story maternity hospital.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted on the US social media platform X that over 60 drones were involved in the attacks on Odesa.
