Ballistic Missile Debris in Abu Dhabi Kills Two, Injures Three

(MENAFN) Two individuals lost their lives and three others sustained injuries after fragments from a destroyed ballistic missile landed in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, authorities reported Thursday.

According to official statements, the incident took place along Sweihan Road after air defense systems intercepted a ballistic missile midair. Debris from the interception subsequently fell to the ground, resulting in casualties.

As stated by reports, the falling fragments killed two unidentified people and left three others wounded. Several vehicles in the area were also damaged.

The broader region has remained on high alert since a joint military campaign by the United States and Israel against Iran began on Feb. 28, which has reportedly resulted in more than 1,340 deaths, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Tehran has carried out retaliatory strikes using drones and missiles, targeting Israel as well as countries such as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military facilities. These attacks have caused casualties, inflicted damage on infrastructure, and disrupted both global markets and air travel, according to reports.
