US Strike on Suspected Caribbean Drug Vessel Kills Four
(MENAFN) The US Southern Command announced on Wednesday that a military strike on a suspected drug-trafficking vessel in the Caribbean resulted in the deaths of four individuals.
Intelligence reportedly identified the vessel as operating along “known narco-trafficking routes” and actively participating in drug-related operations, according to a statement posted on a US social media platform.
The strike was authorized by SOUTHCOM commander Francis L. Donovan and executed by Joint Task Force Southern Spear against a vessel described as being run by “designated terrorist organizations.”
“Four male narco-terrorists were killed during this action. No U.S. military forces were harmed,” the statement said.
The operation is part of an intensified US military effort in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean that began in September, aimed at combating narcotics trafficking. Authorities note that at least 163 people have been killed since these operations started.
