Three Killed in Israeli Strikes in South Lebanon

(MENAFN) At least three Lebanese civilians are dead and four more wounded after Israeli forces carried out an airstrike on Kounin, a town in the southern Nabatieh governorate, the country's Health Ministry confirmed late Wednesday.

The assault did not stop there. Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israeli warplanes simultaneously targeted the towns of Deir Aames, Upper Nabatieh, Srifa, and Hasbaya — all located across southern Lebanon — in a sweeping wave of aerial bombardment.

The strikes are part of a relentless Israeli military campaign that began following a cross-border Hezbollah attack on March 2, which triggered both sustained airstrikes and a ground offensive into southern Lebanon. Lebanese officials report the toll has now climbed to at least 1,072 dead and 2,966 wounded since hostilities intensified.

The violence in Lebanon is unfolding against the backdrop of a broader regional conflagration. A joint US-Israeli offensive targeting Iran has claimed more than 1,340 lives since February 28, further destabilizing an already volatile Middle East.

Tehran has responded forcefully, launching retaliatory drone and missile strikes directed at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf states — asserting the attacks are aimed squarely at American military installations in the region.
