Zelenskyy Claims Russia Plans Attack on Ukraine’s Water Systems

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed on Wednesday that Russia is planning an operation targeting Ukraine’s water supply networks.

After convening a meeting on regions affected by Russian strikes in Kyiv, Zelenskyy emphasized on Telegram the need for local authorities to take the safeguarding of critical facilities seriously. He stated: "We also know that the Russians are preparing an operation against water supply systems in the coming months. In every community, there must be a serious attitude, an absolutely responsible attitude toward the protection of the relevant facilities."

In a separate announcement, Zelenskyy addressed discussions with the United States, saying that security assurances would be provided only if Ukrainian forces pull back from the Donbas region. He added: "The Americans are ready to finally finalize these guarantees at a high level as soon as Ukraine is ready to withdraw its troops from Donbas."

As stated by reports, Zelenskyy’s remarks highlight ongoing concerns about potential Russian sabotage against essential infrastructure and the conditions tied to international security support.
