Israel Pledges Continued Campaign Against Hezbollah Despite Iran Talks
(MENAFN) Israeli authorities have stated they will press on with military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, irrespective of any forthcoming agreement with Iran, according to reports.
An Israeli security source told reporters: “Israel is working to completely sever the operational and political link between Iran and Hezbollah.”
“The Israeli political leadership is determined to continue its campaign in Lebanon against Hezbollah until its objectives are achieved, regardless of any potential arrangements with the extremist regime in Tehran,” the source added.
The source further warned: “The Iranians are trying to create a formula that would allow continued rocket fire toward Israel if the Israeli army does not stop fighting Hezbollah in Lebanon. We will not allow this linkage.”
The comments come amid mounting reports that Washington may announce a ceasefire with Iran in the coming days. Earlier, Israel’s public broadcaster cited an informed source expressing concern that the US could temporarily pause hostilities to facilitate negotiations with Tehran.
